A Sample Reading Journal Entry!

Ariel and Flounder saw a ship.  Ariel thought that they wouldn’t be seen.   She was right.  The boat sank, and luckily, Ariel was there.  Ariel and Flounder found a treasure chest full of clothes.  Ariel dressed but didn’t quite know how to do it.  She put a crown on her fin.  It was weird, really weird.  Ariel and Flounder took the treasure and watched the prince that was on the boat dance.  It was the full moon, so pretty.  Ariel and Flounder swam back to their home.  They went to sleep.

My Summer Box of Having Fun

(With thanks to Bobbi Katz for her wonderful poem, ‘What Shall I Pack in the Box Marked “Summer”?’)

I would put the nice summer breeze

And the warm summer sun in my box.

I would take only some nice, splashing ocean water.

I would take the fun times

With Autumn and Reed and Mia our cat.

I would take Camp Good News

With its archery and nature hiking.

I would be out in the pretty views

And going to Maine to get a house.

I would put in sleeping in a lot,

A lot!

I would put in my art.

I would put my ideas and my playing,

Doing firewood,

Getting up to have fun with Mia,

And having fun with Holley

Before Holley left for college.

I would put in when Jaelyn

Had a play date with us

And took care of us.

Tunbridge Fair

brooke-tunbridge2

I don’t know about you, but have you ever tried the maple cotton candy?  Then you need to go to the Tunbridge Fair!  Yaaah!  I loved it a lot.  I loved the horse barn a lot.  Guess what.  There was an old school.  They taught math.  It was cool, and it was really fun.  Can you believe it?  I can’t.  She said she wouldn’t use the paddle.  Did you know right next to the school house there was a guy that carved shingles?  I chose the horse barn for my picture at the Tunbridge Fair.  At the tents it rained.  Click, clock went the rain.  The rain went like this—pitter, patter, pitter, patter.  It was cool.  I got to go into the shop, the candy shop.  Most people didn’t.  I’m knot sure though.  I don’t know and you don’t know.  Ha ha.  The pig races were really, really funny.  The Asian pot-belly pigs were the funniest.  Number two won.  He could smell the food, and the others just stood there.   Yep, they did.  I went to the old, old sleds.  They were really cool.  Tunbridge was fun because I got the maple cotton candy, but the pig races were my favorite.

Long Tall Sally’s Engineering Reflection

Hi!  My name is Long Tall Sally.  Now, let’s get started.  This is my Scribble Bot.  I would like to tell you about it.  Here we go.  I was a little frustrated.  Okay, a lot!  I had to make a motor work with a battery.  It was hard, but I got it eventually.  I liked it a lot.  I had to have some help from a friend.  I also helped another person too.  My Scribble Bot is amazing.

Camp

I went to Camp Good News.  I was in a cabin Abigail.  I swam in the blue pool.

It’s Okay

It’s okay to have glasses.

It’s okay to have friends.

It’s okay to be in second grade.

It’s okay to have a big family.

It’s okay to sleep and sleep and sleep.

It’s okay to play Legos.

It’s okay to have cats.

It’s okay to have ratty hair.

It’s okay to love God.
