So it all started on January 24, 1848, in California on John Sutter’s land.  Gold was found in the American River.  Gold fiver started!  What is gold fever?  Well, gold fever is when people wanted the gold all to themselves.  James Marshall started the gold rush when he found nuggets of gold.
