Dear Pip,
Do you remember when we fixed your bed? One day you asked me to fix your bed. I went under your bed, and you picked up the mattress. I put the bolt back on. Your bed was fixed!

If I Were in Charge of the World
(a form change poem with thanks to Judith Viorst)
If I were in charge of the world,
I’d cancel school, homework, and also wet pants.
If I were in charge of the world,
There would be more candy, more messy rooms, and lots of dirty clothes.
If I were in charge of the world,
You wouldn’t have clean tubs,
You wouldn’t have a clean room,
And you wouldn’t have any homework.
If I were in charge of the world,
A one-hundred-foot-long cookie would be a balanced meal.
All people would feel happy.
And a person who sometimes doesn’t wash or floss
Would still be allowed to be
In charge of the world.
